RE: Electrical question

I would look for a loose neutral somewhere. A loose neutral is allowing the ground to be used as a complete(or almost) circuit instead of the proper neutral.
I am not an electrician, but I have slept in a motel 6.

RE: Ford Excursion Questions

Gentlemen:
Okay, enough about the 6.0L versus the 7.3L question... Don't want to turn this into a bar fight!!!!
Several of you have mentioned "working the diesel hard"... I don't tow that much... I have a drag car that I tow a couple of hundred miles every couple of months and that is about it... I am not worried about the cost difference between a diesel and a gasser - what I want is to know that when I go to tow, the rig is gonna pull it easily... I also want reliability... So -- will I be making a mistake by buying the diesel given that I won't "work it hard" often?
Appreicate your thoughts...
Have had mine going on seven years. Drive to work and back a total of 10 miles 5 days a week. It gets parked on the weekends execpt when it's called on to take us on our annual 3 week vacation and that once a month jaunt, and a few random tows inbetween. Only the normal stuff has gone wrong: alternator, batteries, one valve cover gasket, and hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm can't think of anything else execpt routine maintenance and tires. I only have 130k on it!! Just about broke in don't ya think?????
So buy a diesel if that's what you want.....of course we ALL NEED one!!!!!!

RE: Leveling and stabilizing with slideout question

I've learned to level so that after the stabs are down the weight of the slide will bring TT back to level, then a slight readjustment of the oppsite side is all that is needed.

RE: power problems F 250 super duty

Try asking you question here..............
http://www.thedieselstop.com/
Not to discount this forum but, you will get more detailed responses to your problems and suggestions for resolutions that you can go back to your dealer to help pinpoint the issue to hopefully get it fixed. It worked for me anyways as a former 6.0 PSD owner.
Most of the time the dealer would want to know how I knew all that stuff. I spent hours reading on that site.
Good luck.
Ditto..............

RE: Don’t buy State Farm RV insurance

After more than 30 years SF dropped us like a hot rock due to the fact that we are within 2 miles of the ocean. NEVER had we filed a claim!!!!!! Just policy for us poor Florida folks that might live near some water. Now since we don't have everthing with them our rates on our cars and trucks have gone up, nice huh, after more than 30 years.
Got to had it to them though, they did tell me that they really don't like insuring RVs!!

RE: The good people of Sydney NS

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's no way that a paper will print that.
The grammar is so bad that it's painful to read. They won't subject their readers to that.
Maybe if you put just a little bit of effort into it. It's understandable that time and care are not taken when posting on a forum. However, when submitting for a printed publication, some care must be taken.
To start with "me and my wife"... You'll be lucky if they even read the rest of the letter.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is really harsh!!!!! Not everbody is a grammar expert. Our paper here in Daytona Beach Florida would probably print that and leave it as is. If everything was edited to be grammatically correct they wouldn't have time to put out a paper! I have read editorials that were not as good as the OP's, grammar and all.
Me, myself is not very edgmacated:)

RE: Something new I've learned about tires.

How much towing does your tire friend do?? Not doughting him but plenty of folks use the aggressive tread design with no problems. My Michline tires are probably open design and I don't have any problems.

RE: $99 Honda parallel Cable

My homemade "unsafe" ones have almost zero chance of getting zapped too. I don't have kids and I shut down BEFORE I unplug. As a matter of fact it takes a good hard tug and grip inorder to unplug them. I can't for the life of me see how they would somehow come unplugged to cause a hazard??

RE: Best Way to Sell TT?

Figure the lose you are willing to take and advertise in the local penny saver or such. If you have the time go to a busy mall parking lot, park in the back with a sign on it and stay in the tv, people will come, I've done it. See if the dealer will sell on consignment, set a price, and they will probably want at least 10% for selling it for you. Them buying it back will give you the most lose. Try E-Bay too.

RE: Dont touch that cat!!!!!!!!

In Florida that guy could have been dead, we have the castle doctrine and you would have been in your rights to defend you and your property when he started shaking your trailer!!!! Some people are just plain stupid.
Glad everything worked out ok and there was no violence.

RE: Tow vehicles

I've towed from 5.4k to 9.5k and it did it nicely. Mine is a 01' X 7.3 PSD. So if you get a 6.0 or the newer 6.4 it will be no sweat. I'll never go back to gas for towing that's for sure. We do about 3 to 4k during summer and a monthly trip from anywhere around 50 miles to 400 miles, then it becomes my daily driver.

RE: replacing shower drain

It's just a matter of getting under the shower. On our TT there is access, but is very tight but doable. Should be a trap that comes off with quick disconnects. Re-attach the nut and put trap back on. It may not be easy but probably can be done.

RE: F 250 OR FORD EXCURISON

One thing that lead us to the Excursion is the ability for our grils to take a friend or two camping... the F250 doesn't have the seating capascity.
For tons more info on both the F250 and Excursion, and the Diesel and V10, jump on over the the Ford Truck Enthusiast website.
Or jump over to Click.
Good luck on your choice

RE: Chip Set

You will get both sides of the argument. Me I have been chipped for almost 100k without any problems. No increase in mpg, but gained a ton of power which you can feel and makes hill climbing a pleasure. I'm a little ole lady when it comes to driving. I have installed aftermarket guages to monitor what goes on because things can go wrong quick!! Use your head and enjoy........

Sounds good to me. Keeping the R's up actually helpls keep things cool in a diesel. Going over to www.dieselstop.com and asking there will probably get you more answers. They live, bleed, and sleep ford diesels over there.

RE: First tow test...new (old) diesel TV

new is '01 Excursion PSD...(old was '99 2500 Burb.)
Bumped the TT to about 8K# for the test, filled all holding tanks to about 3/4 full. 400 miles RT, about 1/2 freeway. Averaged 14.5 mpg (7-8 mpg with Burb) and solid as hard cheese. Two 6-7K' passes on freeway section. Dropped out of OD for each pass, went up at about 60 mph, no problem....tranny high was 190 or so. Except for climbs, OD all the way (Ex is chipped).
On the return trip tackled Bald Mt. pass, topped out at 10,750', dropped OD, no downshift at all and the PSD rolled on at 50 mph, no problems. Tranny got to 210 for about 60 seconds at the very top (7-8% long grade to get there), but cooled right off when over the top.
All in all, quite satisfied with performance. Next trip will be about 3K miles after Labor Day and looking forward to same.
Now you need to go to Click and check out their X forum and the related forums for the 7.3. You will find a ton of great info and folks that will help with any questions. You don't mention what if any gauges you have but being chipped you need at least tranny temp(you are using temp numbers), boost keep under 25 psi and pyro and keep this under 1250* and you should be good to go. The 01' X came with a weak tranny. I has a mechanical diode deep in the tranny that can and usually does go bad, then a complete new or rebuild is in order. Knock on wood mine is still good at 130k and I am chipped too, and have been for the last 100k plus miles.
It is a towing beast!!!!!!
Good luck with the new toy and enjoy,
